George was the one Beatle that brought the spirituality (not RELIGION, but spirituality) to the group, being a Hare Krishna devotee (and bhakti- bhakti meaning devotion- yogi) for a great part of his life.
This is an elegy, a lament, for the decadence of the world and society in general. I do not think George meant for this to be a love song, at all. Ok firstly, I do not agree with any of the comments above.
